Dear Members & Friends:

Happy Thanksgiving and best wishes to everyone. We are truly blessed to live and work in such a great place, enjoy our families and have our freedom. Everyday we hear more about the big bad “American’s” but I have to tell you, we still have the best political system and do more for other people around the world than any other country. I am proud to be an American and proud to be from Savannah Georgia.

This time of year it is appropriate to offer special thanks to those special folks that are watching over us while we eat our Thanksgiving dinner. Our soldiers, police, fire, medical personnel and the many others that contribute so much to the world we live in. Thank you for all of your sacrifices so that we may live a better life.

When Save Our Savannah was started about a year ago, we wanted to create a mechanism where the public could be heard and we would help provide solutions to fight crime in Savannah. Well, we have started.

Our primary concern was to hire a new Police Chief to inject new blood into an ongoing fight and I believe the City and Michael Brown have been extraordinarily successful. From everything that I have heard Chief Berkow is off to a very good start and we can expect the unexpected from him.

It has been a long road but we are about to initiate our first major project with a Private/Public Partnership with the City to install lights and cameras in the downtown squares. This, I hope will be just one of many projects that SOS will be able to participate in and help to get off the ground. We have at least two more major initiatives that we are researching and working towards. We still want to make Savannah safe for Everyone, Everyday, Everywhere.
